You should understand that when participating in any outdoor activity there is the possibility of physical injury. When you register for the High Coast Winter Hike you agree that you do so at your own risk and assume all risk of injury to yourself, and agree to release and discharge the High Coast Winter Hike and the organizer from any and all claims or causes of action, known or unknown, arising out of participating in the High Coast Winter Hike.

When you take part in the High Coast Winter Hike you are responsible for making sure that you bring neccessary equipment and are physically prepared. The tickets are non refundable so check with your insurance company. To make sure you do not leave anything essential behind we have put together a packing list consisting of items we strongly recommend you have with you so your hike will be as enjoyable and safe as possible.
It is important that you bring equipment that will make you able to manage various temperatures and weather conditions.

Just as many other adventures like this your registration is not refundable. Check your insurance if you can get a refund if you have registered for an event but can not participate due to injury. In Sweden you could get an extra insurance called ”Startklar” for events like this. Of course you can sell your registration on our Facebook site.
All camping takes place in your own tent. All camping must take place by the shared basecamps – Checkpoint Woolpower and Checkpoing Fjällräven. Cabins in the National Park may be used for shelter but overnighting, cooking or borrowing equipment is not permitted.
The toilets in the National Park may of course be used.
It is absolutely forbidden to leave any trash behind. This also applies to checkpoints, camping sites and cabins. You can leave your trash bag at the finish area.
The High Coast Winter Hike places high demands on your own judgement. It is not recommended that you take part if you have back or knee problems. Consider your own personal health status before taking part– hiking places tough demands on your body. We also recommend that you do not drive home directly after the hike, we recommend eight hours of rest before driving long distances.
For your safety, we will have first aid personnel in the terrain and at the basecamps. They can help if you should develop any problems along the way. You can report problems at all checkpoints where all officials are trained in first aid. Officials can also contact headquarters located in FriluftsByn. However, despite these extra measures, you should be able to be hike without assistance for the majority of the adventure.
Do not take any unnecessary risks
Seriously, try not to take any unnecessary risks. Slåttdalsberget, and the viewpoints at Skåttdalsskrevan and Skuleberget are high risk points if you hike too close to the ridges. If any part of the trail feels a little risky, ask a fellow hiker for help.
Take a rest when you get tired and eat when you get hungry. Make sure you drink a lot of water. Don’t cook inside the tent, but rather outdoors and in an open area.
Mobile phone coverage
The majority of the High Coast Winter Hike route has mobile phone coverage, but some areas do not. It is therefore necessary for you to have an alternative plan for getting attention should you become sick or injured, or need to reach a checkpoint.
You do not need the latest equipment to be able to take part on the hike, but you do need a warm sweater/fleece jacket, a sleeping bag designed for outdoor use and a first aid kit for both yourself and your fellow hikers’ safety.
If you have to discontinue the hike
If you decide that you cannot complete the hike you must inform an official at a checkpoint or call the number you will be given at the checkpoint. In the case of an urgent accident, call 112 (SOS Alarm).
We hope that this information does not put you off coming along. Accidents are very uncommon, but you can never be too careful.
